Down
There’s a dog in the yard
Going round in circles
He’s looking for something
That he hasn’t found
His legs are weary
But he keeps on trying
Going around
And around
Going down
On the day that she left
The sky was clear and blue
A cool wind was blowing
Up from Galveston
From this old porch swing
I watched her in silence
Going around
And around
Going down
When a cat’s in a room
That’s filled up with rockers
Though she senses danger
She makes not a sound
Things are moving fast
Yet she misses nothing
Going around
And around
Going down
A boat in the desert
Won’t make you a sailor
An ocean of whiskey
Is no place to drown
I’ve been a pilgrim
But lately I’m sinking
Going around
And around
Going down
