This Numbing Pain
As the rain came down
Huddled close in the night
Held their babies close
And they prayed for the light
But the day broke hard
And the terror remained
And from then to now they feel
This numbing pain
CHORUS
For all the rights they never had
We kept our silence, never said
They left a vigil in our name
The world will suffer this numbing pain
And if you wonder if we’re all to blame
Just ask those left to say the same
You cannot feel nor see the sight
Of a mother’s terrors in, that long and longer night
CHORUS
Now tell the story, the songs of silence
Remember and never forget
Pass along the truth, the past remains
When injustice ends, we’re all to blame
CHORUS
