Hard As A Rock
I’ve been led down the primrose path before
I am wise in the ways of men
I’ve been turned, I’ve been burned, but I’ve learned and grown
Not so gullible, won’t get hurt again
‘Cause I’m hard as a rock and I’ve learned to block
Can’t be bought, I won’t deal, no Achilles heel
Yeah, I’m hard as a rock, you can scream or knock
But I will not feel, I have nerves of steel
I’ve surmised there’s no prize for this race I run
Just one goal, don’t get hurt again
Just be cool, don’t be fooled, that’s the role I planned
But I’ve been mastered by it…
This role I planned…
Became my master plan
‘Cause I’m hard as a rock and I’ve learned to block
Can’t be bought, I won’t deal, no Achilles heel
Yeah, I’m hard as a rock, you can scream or knock
But I will not feel, I have nerves of steel
When I’m lonely in the night
And I’ve lost the will to fight
I think of how it could have been
If I had stood a little rain
If I had understood the pain
Some flexibility back then
Back when I’d break before I’d bend
